Scenes from the Farm

Last weekend, we made it up to visit Ryan's family in Illinois. We stopped in Poplar Bluff, MO around midnight, but there was no hotel to be found. We had to drive on to Sikeston where we finally got settled into bed around 2 a.m.

The next day we completed the drive and spent the next 2 days, hanging out at Ryan's parents' home. His brother Jeff, brother Scott, and sister-in-law Jyldyz were there, as well. (Roni and Ghetti also got to play with two of their dog cousins, Cooper and Romeo.)

Most of Ryan's relatives live in the area so many came over to celebrate the holiday. After we put the kids to bed one night, Ryan, Jeff, Scott, Jyldyz, and I headed out to watch Eclipse. (I liked it!) The next day, we took the kids to the hospital to visit Ryan's grandfather. We were happy to see he seemed to be doing well.

During the weekend, the kids also...

picked potatoes from the garden,

hung out in the hammock with Grandpa,

rode the 4-wheeler,

shucked corn,

played in the trees,

and rolled down the hill.

The kids went blackberry picking and each brought me back a flower.

At the July 4th Get-Together, Sissy made fast friends with Ryan's cousin's daughter.
They're both 3 and were perfect little buddies.

Ryan played a little badminton with Dash.

And finally we gathered to watch Scott and Jeff's fireworks show.

It's always pretty outrageous.
